⚠️Real ID Deadline, Frugality & Cam Jurgens
Hello. It's Monday, 21st Apr, and we're covering Pope’s death, a $1.3 Million investment in student learning! & much more.
Tick Tock! Real ID Deadline Approaches—Is Your State Ready for Airport Chaos?
The deadline for obtaining a Real ID is fast approaching, with just weeks left until May 7, when only compliant IDs will be accepted at airports and federal buildings. Shockingly, many states are lagging, with at least 16 reporting under 50% compliance.
While some states, like Colorado and Texas, boast near-complete compliance, others like New Jersey and Pennsylvania are struggling. Travelers without a Real ID may face significant delays due to secondary verification processes at TSA checkpoints.
But this does not mean no more flying for those without a real ID. A valid passport can be used in substitution for domestic flights — and a passport, of course, is already required for international flights.
Anyone who wants a real ID must visit the DMV and show:
A passport or birth certificate
Proof of a Social Security number
Two documents showing one's full name and address
An official document with one's signature.
In the wake of Pope Francis's passing, the world enters a significant period of mourning known as Novendiales, lasting nine days.
Marcelo Suarez-Orozco from the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences shares insights into this solemn tradition and its implications for the Catholic community and beyond.
The days are marked by reflection, remembrance, and the anticipation of choosing a new leader for the Church.
As tributes pour in from around the globe, the legacy of Pope Francis continues to inspire and unite people, igniting discussions about the future of the Church in these transformative times.
Drivers with Expired Plates Under Fire!
Colorado law enforcement agencies are cracking down on drivers with expired license plates, including temporary tags.
A recent enforcement operation saw officers ticketing multiple drivers shortly after starting their patrol.
Many violations include expired stickers, lack of insurance, and safety seat issues for children.
Troopers emphasize the importance of staying up to date with vehicle registration, as expired tags can complicate insurance claims and towing situations.
Illinois Libraries Get a Boost: $1.3 Million Investment in Student Learning!
Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias has announced the distribution of over $1.3 million in grants to public school libraries across the state.
This funding, awarded annually, is designed to enhance resources for students from kindergarten to 12th grade, covering everything from books to technology.
Notable recipients include Chicago Public Schools, which received more than $78,000, alongside several other districts benefiting from the program.
Giannoulias emphasized the importance of quality library resources, affirming their role as vital hubs of knowledge and learning for future generations.
