ICE to Hunt Down Vulnerable Unaccompanied Minors Amid Growing Border Crisis
The Trump administration is taking a bold step by tasking ICE with the mission of locating unaccompanied migrant children in the U.S., a response to the rising number of over 600,000 minors who’ve crossed the southern border since 2019.
This controversial initiative, known as the "Unaccompanied Alien Children Joint Initiative Field Implementation," aims to prevent trafficking and exploitation.
According to internal documents, ICE has categorized these minors into groups based on their risk level and is prioritizing those deemed "flight risks," particularly those with pending deportation orders. Critics, including child advocacy groups, stress the need for a more compassionate approach, emphasizing the unique vulnerabilities of these children.
They call for government collaboration with legal service providers to ensure these minors understand their rights and protections as they navigate the immigration process. The discourse surrounding this initiative promises to be complex and deeply impactful on the lives of many.
Trump and Macron Discuss Ukraine Peace Deal
President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron met at the White House today, to discuss the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, now in its third year. Central to their talks was a proposed peace deal involving European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine. Trump stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to the arrangement, emphasizing, “He will accept it... if we do this deal, he's not looking for World War.”
Trump also revealed that the U.S. is close to securing a minerals revenue-sharing agreement with Ukraine, granting American access to Ukraine’s critical minerals in exchange for aid. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may visit Washington to finalize the deal.
However, controversy arose after the U.S. voted against a UN resolution condemning Russia’s aggression, drawing criticism from lawmakers who viewed the move as a betrayal. Macron stressed the need for strong security guarantees for Ukraine and urged caution in negotiations with Russia.
Trump Appoints Podcaster Dan Bongino as Deputy FBI Director
In a surprising move, President Donald Trump has appointed conservative podcaster Dan Bongino as the new deputy director of the FBI. Known for his strong support of Trump and controversial views—particularly regarding the 2020 election—Bongino's appointment raises eyebrows given the FBI's turbulent landscape.
With a background in the New York Police Department and the Secret Service, Bongino brings a combative flair to his new role, having built a significant following through his popular podcast, "The Dan Bongino Show."
Trump praised Bongino for his passion and devotion to the country, while Bongino has committed to restoring faith in the FBI amid concerns of political partisanship.
As he turns his focus away from podcasting to serve in this influential position, many are left wondering how this shift will impact the bureau that stands at a critical juncture in American politics.
